There’s no shortage of food halls in Charlotte, and the city’s newest concept was made with beer lovers in mind.

Distro Beer Hub has made a home in South End, offering beer enthusiasts 12 taps per stall, craft cocktails and a gourmet food menu at 2412 Distribution St., which opened for business Wednesday, Sept. 17.

It’s shaping up to be Charlotte’s destination for all things craft beer, provided by four breweries born here in the Tar Heel State, according to a news release.

“It’s basically a food hall for the craft beer world,” Heist Brewery founder Kurt Hogan told CharlotteFive. “This has been an idea for years. I saw the success of some of the food halls that were opening at that time, and I wondered if something similar could be applied to the craft beer world.”

Customers can take a seat and taste what’s on tap at one of four featured bars:

  • Heist Brewery - Charlotte
  • Dssolvr - Asheville and Durham
  • Divine Barrel - Charlotte
  • Incendiary - Lewisville, Raleigh and Winston Salem

“This is a way to showcase some of the best beer in the state under one roof,” Hogan said.

If brews aren’t your thing, Distro Beer Hub pours craft cocktails and non-alcoholic drink options, too. Canned beer options are also available.

The 350-seat venue features a full food menu that runs the gamut from panko-breaded chicken nuggets to classic sushi rolls, salads and wraps. Other shareable bites include smoked wings, chips and salsa, and cheesy jalapeño poppers.

“As far as food goes, hand-pressed wraps and sushi are our specialty,” Kurt told CharlotteFive. “The wraps are all scratch-made. We make our own tortilla dough and press the wraps in-house. There are several different flavors of wraps ... and we strive to achieve that ‘umami’ bite to incorporate all of the senses.”

Customers can enjoy a meal indoors or find a seat on the pet-friendly patio, made to accommodate up to 150 guests. You can also catch a game on one of the more than 33 TVs hung throughout the space.

“Distro Beer Hub isn’t just a beer hall — it’s an immersive experience,” the business’ news release said.

Hogan said there are plans for an expanded beer garden and green space this fall. He also hopes to build out an 8,000-square-foot event space next door, which will also house an all-day cafe.

“The plan is to serve coffee and breakfast/brunch items, and the front patios will be connected,” Hogan said. “We’ll encourage people to work from the space if they desire, or hold business meetings.”
