An artisan charcuterie company has found a new home — and a new name — in Charlotte’s Optimist Park neighborhood.

Salt and Honey Co., formerly The Board Babe, officially opened Wednesday, Sept. 10, in its new spot at 420 E. 22nd St., owner Taylor Lover said via Instagram.

The company specializes in custom charcuterie board and catering services, offering guests a “sensory experience“ with curated grazing tables and boards and grab-and-go options, its website says.

A massive charcuterie board, overflowing with a variety of cheeses, crackers, fruits, and meats, is displayed on a long wooden table. The arrangement features several large wedges of cheese, bowls of dips, and edible flowers, suggesting a festive and abundant gathering.

Specialty meat and cheeseboards are available for online ordering, with the option for pickup or delivery. For those who prefer hands-on learning, Salt and Honey Co. also will host workshops and events to help craft your own spreads.

“Our goal for the space is to be all inclusive to women and men, so groups can pop in and there’s something for everyone,” Lover told CharlotteFive.

Other offerings include Italian-inspired sandwiches, dips, salads and daily specials, CharlotteFive reported.

Addressing the company’s rebrand, Lover said she felt “Salt and Honey Co.” was more in line with her vision for the business.

“I wanted something that was a little bit more elevated, that encompassed what I’m trying to grow into,” she said in a video shared on Instagram, noting future plans for a lifestyle brand. “I just think the name Salt and Honey is really classy and really fun.”

The new name is also a nod to Lover’s love for her family.

“As most of you guys know, my son calls me honey, so it’s just like an endearing thing for him and my daughter,” she said.

Guests of Salt and Honey Co. will find an expanded charcuterie menu and new retail section stocked with artisanal salts, jams and pastas from across the globe, according to Lover. Wine and beer options will also be available in the coming months.

A small wooden counter displays baked goods and various packaged food items. On top of the counter, pastries are under glass domes next to small white boxes of baked goods, and on a shelf underneath, jars of beverages are next to black boxes of snack items.

“The last couple of years, I’ve learned so much and made so many mistakes,” she said on Instagram. “I can’t want to bring a refined version of The Board Babe to Salt and Honey and Charlotte.”

News of the opening prompted a flurry of well wishes from fans:

  • “Can’t wait to check out the new location!! The updated name is perfect,” Reanna Walls commented on Lover’s video.
  • “Ahhh!!! Super excited to visit soon!” Lindsey Stimpson Lewis wrote.
  • “Congratulations girl! I know you’ve worked so hard for this!” Lauren Harrell commented.
