Florida farm-to-table restaurant coming soon to South End. Here’s what we know
A Florida farm-to-table restaurant plans to put down roots in Charlotte soon.
Naked Farmer, a fast-casual chain known for its locally-sourced, seasonal offerings, will open at 2725 South Boulevard in South End, according to a filing on the North Carolina Secretary of State’s website.
Founder and CEO Jordan Johnson is listed as the registered agent for Naked Farmer 2725 South LLC, and a signage request for the restaurant was submitted Dec. 16, city records show.
An official opening date hasn’t been announced.
It will be the Naked Farmer’s first North Carolina location and occupy the former Maple Street Biscuit Company space at the Sedgefield Shopping Center. The latter, known for its Southern biscuits and brunch, closed sometime last year.
So what can customers expect at the forthcoming Naked Farmer?
“Our farm-to-table restaurants boast a menu grown in direct conversation with small and medium-sized farms in our region, brought in from the fields, and cooked on site by chefs who know their vegetables,” the restaurant’s website says.
Naked Farmer’s fall menu features “chef curated pairings” highlighted by seasonal, produce — including sweet potatoes sourced from farms in Spring Hope and Nashville, NC. Joyce Farms in Winston-Salem also supplies fresh, whole turkeys to the restaurant.
Honey BBQ chicken is also on the menu alongside grass-fed steak and blue oyster mushrooms. Side items include mashed potatoes, chili garlic Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, and more.
“It’s pretty simple, really: we feel like eating food that’s grown closer to you is better for you, the environment, farmers and the economy,” the restaurant’s website says.
CharlotteFive reached out to Naked Farmer for more information Dec. 17 and was awaiting a response.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
