‘An incredible struggle’: Beloved kitchen + bar closes in Concord after 6 years

A Concord restaurant known for its breakfast and lunch fare has officially closed.

Village Corner Comfort Kitchen & Bar shuttered over the weekend, bidding adieu to its spot at 360 Exchange St., after six years. Its last day in business was Sunday, Feb. 8.

The exterior of Village Corner features a brick facade with a black awning and a large sign above the entrance. Several cars are parked on the street in front of the building, which is framed by a white-flowering tree to the left.

In a farewell message shared on Instagram, owner Ryan Bybee said the eatery faced “an incredible struggle” after closing two weekends in a row, seemingly due to the treacherous winter weather.

“Unfortunately, we are not able to find a way to overcome the loss of business,” wrote Bybee, who also owns Beef & Brine steakhouse. “We’ve explored all options but have accepted reality.”

Village Corner offered all-day breakfast alongside lunch classics, from chicken Caesar wraps to smash burgers and BLTs, according to its website. Salads were also on the menu, as were plates of shrimp and grits and Cajun pasta.

Bybee invited locals to stop in for one last hurrah Sunday before Village Corner closed it doors for good.

“We have so many great memories created by so many wonderful guests,” he wrote, thanking the community for its years of support.
