The newest Charlotte-area Whataburger is opening soon in Rock Hill. What to know

The wait is almost over for Whataburger fans in Rock Hill and those in South Charlotte who are hoping for a short drive to grab a burger, day or night.

The Texas-based chain has already opened 11 stores in North Carolina — including one in Charlotte at Clear Creek Crossings — and one in Indian Land, SC, that’s close to the Charlotte border.

A second Hickory location is tentatively slated to open March 19, and restaurants in Wake Forest and Raleigh are set to follow March 26 and April 9, respectively, Whataburger executives told CharlotteFive in an exclusive interview.

But the news that York County and South Charlotte residents have been waiting for since last May is when the Rock Hill location will open. That date — subject to change pending any construction or permit delays — is April 30.
