2 Charlotte restaurants say goodbye, including a popular Italian eatery

Two Charlotte restaurants are bowing out of the city’s dining scene.

This week, I reported on two recent or impending restaurant closings, including a popular Italian eatery in SouthPark.

Here’s what to know and when to get your last bites:

Fontana di Vino

Fontana Di Vino, a modern Italian eatery, has shuttered its SouthPark restaurant, though the reason remains unclear.

An overhead flat lay of a variety of Italian dishes arranged on a wooden table. The central dish is a white bowl with a blue rim containing mussels in a tomato broth. Other visible dishes include meatballs in sauce, fried calamari, flatbread with a white dip, and several plates of fresh chopped salads.

Known for its variety of pasta dishes, the restaurant reportedly closed on or around Valentine’s Day. A Google listing indicates the restaurant is “permanently closed,” and the SouthPark eatery is no longer listed as a location on its official website.

Fontana Di Vino has another restaurant in Davidson that’s still open.

Skinny Buddha

Skinny Buddha is closing up shop at The Bank Food Hall in Kannapolis, the restaurant shared in a message posted on Instagram.

The eatery, known for its sushi, egg rolls and bulgogi bowls, will serve its last meals on Sunday, March 8.

A top-down view of two takeout containers from Skinny Buddha, one filled with grilled chicken and the other with steak, both served alongside steamed broccoli and carrots. Each meal includes a side of creamy orange dipping sauce and is presented on a green and white checkered surface.

A reason for the closure wasn’t made public.

“This decision comes with deep gratitude for everyone who has shared a meal, a laugh, and a memory with us,” the restaurant’s management said in a farewell message. “To our loyal guest, friends, and neighbors — thank you for being part of our story. Your support has meant everything, and it’s been an honor to serve y’all.”
