Cinnamon roll bakery closing in Belmont after 7 years. Here’s why + what to know

Cinnaholic is closing the doors on its Belmont bakery after nearly seven years.

Co-owner Carrie Tanner shared the news “with a heavy heart,” saying the bakery would serve its last cinnamon rolls Friday, March 27.

“It takes consistent community support and a dedicated team to keep something like this going, and over time it became harder to maintain the stability needed to continue,” Tanner wrote in a farewell message posted to Instagram.

“This decision has come with a lot of heartbreak, but also a lot of pride,” she said. “I’m proud of every cinnamon roll, every cookie, every cinnacake, and every memory made inside these walls.”

Cinnaholic is known for its vegan cinnamon rolls but also has cookies, brownies and other animal-free sweets. The gourmet bakery was featured on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in 2014, where the founders landed a deal focused on nationwide shipping, CharlotteFive previously reported.

Today, the franchise has bakeries in more than 25 states, according to its website. The Belmont bakery opened in 2019 and was one of just three Cinnaholics in the Charlotte area; there was another in Indian Trail that’s now closed.

“I’m so excited to bring such a delicious and allergy-friendly dessert to my community,” Tanner told CharlotteFive at the time.

CharlotteFive reached out to Cinnaholic for more information but didn’t immediately hear back.
