2 Charlotte-area restaurants are closing. Here’s when + what to know

A French-Vietnamese café in Arysley is officially closed, and a Monroe bistro serving classic Italian fare will also say farewell soon.

Here’s a quick look at the recent or impending restaurant closings I reported this week:

Paris Banh Mi Cafe Bakery

Paris Banh Mi Cafe Bakery quietly closed its Ayrsley restaurant after less than two years in business.

Former owner Ricky Nie confirmed he sold the Vietnamese sandwich shop sometime last summer but did not give a reason. It was Paris Bahn Mi’s sole location in Chalrotte.

Pho restaurant Sushi Naru now occupies its spot on South Tryon Street.

More recently, Paris Banh Mi abruptly shuttered its restaurant in Cary, North Carolina. The reason for the closure is also unclear.

Main Street Bistro

Main Street Bistro is saying goodbye to downtown Monroe.

The neighborhood eatery, specializing in American-Italian dishes, will close for business Tuesday, March 24. The news comes after owner Lisa Boix announced her retirement.

“From our longtime loyal customers, to those who stopped in occasionally, to the new faces we’ve welcomed more recently — each of you has meant so much to me,” Boix wrote in a farewell message shared to Facebook. “You all have helped create the warm, friendly atmosphere that made coming to work each day so special.”

Trattoria on Main is slated to take over the space, bringing fresh pasta, sauces and more to the historic downtown district.

A storefront for “Main Street Bistro” features a modern black facade with white lettering and an outdoor dining area enclosed by wooden planters. Festive red wreaths and flower boxes decorate the patio, which is shaded by several white umbrellas. The restaurant is nestled between a historic white brick building and a textured stone building on a quiet city street.
