Krispy Kreme brings back fan-favorite doughnut after 6-month hiatus. When to get it
A beloved Krispy Kreme doughnut is back by popular demand, but not for long.
The Original Glazed Lemon Filled Doughnut returned to bakery cases Monday, May 18, at participating Krispy Kreme shops nationwide, according to the Charlotte-based doughnut chain.
The pastry, featuring a glazed shell with “bright, lemon filling,” last appeared on menus in November. Doughnut lovers can grab one (or a dozen) in-shop for a limited time, while supplies last.
“We heard you loud, clear, and all over our comments,” Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a news release. “Fans have not been quiet about wanting this one back, and honestly … we get it.”
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available. Similar offerings — like the cinnamon apple filled doughnut and original glazed raspberry filled doughnut — cost $2.49 at the Krispy Kreme in South End as of May 18.
The return of the lemon filled doughnut comes on the heels of another citrus-forward treat.
Just last week, the coffee and doughnut chain debuted its first orange dreamsicle glazed doughnut, inspired by the nostalgic summertime treat. That doughnut was only available for four days, and it’s unclear if or when it will return to menus.
