Swig, the ultra-popular dirty soda shop, is plotting another location in Charlotte.
A construction plan permit filed with the city on Wednesday, April 8, suggests the brand has its sights set on northwest Charlotte. A “proposed drive-thru with associated infrastructure” could go up on Lawing School Road, near the Rozzelle Crossing shopping center.
CharlotteFive reached out to Swig for more information but didn’t hear back.
The Utah-based brand was founded in 2010 and touts itself as “the home of the original dirty soda.” The drinks — sodas with fruit, cream, purées and other flavors added in — are especially popular among Mormons as a booze-free beverage option.
Swig’s popularity has shown no signs of fizzling out as it continues its expansion in the Charlotte metro. A similar permit filed in March suggests the chain is also looking to build a drive-thru in the Steele Creek area.
The proposed Charlotte locations would join existing spots in Rock Hill and Indian Land, South Carolina.
Just last year, Swig celebrated the opening of its 100th store.
“From our humble beginnings to now having 100 locations in 14 states, I’m amazed at everything our team has accomplished,” Swig’s founder, Nicole Tanner, said at the time. “Swig represents happiness in a cup, and our customers mean the world to us!”
