Drive-thru soda shop with ‘dirty’ sips is coming soon to Charlotte. What to know
A specialty drink shop serving “dirty sodas” is plotting its newest location in Charlotte.
Swig is looking to build a “drive-thru with associated infrastructure” at 4942 Trojan Dr. in the Steele Creek area, according to a land development construction plan permit filed with the city on Monday.
The timeline for when the new location could open is unclear. CharlotteFive reached out to Swig for more information and was awaiting a response.
It will mark Swig’s first location in Charlotte proper, joining existing shops in nearby Rock Hill and Indian Land.
The Utah-based beverage chain touts itself as the “home of the original dirty soda,” serving fizzy soft drinks with added flavors, fruit, creams and purées mixed in. It’s especially popular among those of Mormon faith as a non-alcoholic drink choice, The Herald previously reported.
Refreshers, made with flat or sparkling water, are also on the menu alongside lemonade, Reviver energy drinks, frozen hot chocolate and baked goods.
Founded in 2010, Swig has exploded in popularity and was featured prominently on hit reality show “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” The chain celebrated the opening of its 100th store just last year.
“From our humble beginnings to now having 100 locations in 14 states, I’m amazed at everything our team has accomplished,” Swig’s founder Nicole Tanner said at the time. “Swig represents happiness in a cup, and our customers mean the world to us!”

- Texas Tab: Dr Pepper, vanilla and coconut cream
- Strawberry Breeze: Water, sugar-free coconut, sugar-free vanilla, strawberry purée, frozen strawberries and coconut cream.
- Shark Attack: Sprite, lemonade and blue raspberry topped with a gummy shark
