Readers shared Charlotte’s spiciest dishes, and 2 come with waivers

I asked for readers’ help on where to find the spiciest food in Charlotte, and the recommendations were fire.

I recently found a Reddit thread with spicy food picks and ordered the spicy chicken curry from Curry Gate. It was delicious, but I expected a little more heat.

The comments on our video offered one possible explanation.

“Indian restaurants are known for not giving ‘full spice’ level to non-Indians,” one viewer wrote. “I’ve had to vouch for my friends in the past to get them their spicy level.”

That means another trip to Curry Gate might be in my future — along with visits to the other Charlotte restaurants that readers swear serve some of the city’s hottest dishes.
