A seed oil free eatery opening at Queensbridge Collective in early fall is looking for more locations in Charlotte.

FARE is a fast-casual restaurant expanding nationally from Chicago. The restaurant offers all day breakfast, seasonal meals and bowls.

Co-founder Kasia Bednarz said FARE is a scratch made kitchen focused on nourishing, wholesome food. One of their best sellers is maple harissa sweet potatoes.

“We wanted to create restaurant quality food that was made completely from scratch, but served quickly and conveniently,” Bednarz said. “Our whole mission is to prove that fast food can be real food.”

Locations

FARE originally planned to open in the Monarch Market food hall.

“We just went full force with our own standalone location in a building, not in a food hall, and we think that that’s the right fit,” Bednarz said. “Spending more time in Charlotte and realizing how much density there is and how many people there are, I just think that the standalone location is going to be a way better fit for us to be able to provide as much as we can to the neighborhood.”

FARE is also looking for additional expansion opportunities.

“We are looking at something in Plaza Midwood as of now,” Bednarz said. “We definitely didn’t come to Charlotte to open up just one location. We see this as being like the beginning of a long-term presence in Charlotte.”

FARE’s menu

North Carolina’s temperate weather benefits the business’s seasonal menu, as the growing season in the state is longer than in FARE’s homebase of Chicago.

“Just having access to those farmers is going to be amazing in Charlotte, and here (Chicago) our growing season is three or four months, whereas in Charlotte you’re looking at closer to eight to nine months, which is really perfect for our seasonal menu,” Bednarz said.

The restaurant will use neither seed oils nor refined sugar.

“Radical ingredient transparency is really important to us,” Bednarz said. “We want you to know exactly what you’re eating. We don’t want any ultra processed ingredients, and it’s really the kind of food that we feed our families.”

FARE also offers catering, with options for a variety of dietary needs. The location will have a rewards program through FARE’s app.
