Minor League Baseball Guide

Baseball may be heralded as America’s pastime, but you don’t have to know all the stats to enjoy the return of the sport this spring. More than 2 million fans will occupy seats at any of the 12 Minor League Baseball stadiums in North Carolina this season. That means there’s something for everyone: from following your hometown team to seeing the advent of robot umpires, and much more.

Baseball season is back, and the Charlotte Knights have put out a lineup filled with things to do, special events and theme nights.

The season opens on the road in Norfolk, Va., but tickets are on sale now for the games that kick off at Truist Field on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:35 p.m., against the Memphis Redbirds.

Opening week festivities will include fireworks, along with the 7th Annual Negro Leagues Night on Jackie Robinson Day, Friday, April 15. That night, the team will welcome former Negro League players and a traveling Negro Leagues Museum.

HOW TO GET TICKETS: Buy in person at the Truist Field Ticket Office, online at CharlotteKnights.com or by phone at 704-274-8282.

Here’s some of the other events in store for the season:

Ballpark food, drink deals

When you’re looking for cheaper nights out, mark your calendar for $1 hot dogs nights from Sahlen’s. You’ll find the deals: Thursday, June 30; Wednesday, Sept. 7; and Monday, Sept. 26.

Weekly, you’ll find $7 Cupcake Vineyard wine cans on Wine Wednesday and Thirsty Thursday deals from Hickory Tavern that include $1 small sodas, $3 domestic drafts and $5 craft drafts.

Bark in the Ballpark

Dogs like baseball, too, right? Bring your best friend for Bark in the Ballpark nights taking place: Saturday, April 30; Wednesday, May 18; Thursday, June 30; and Wednesday, Sept. 7.
