Whether you’re in the mood for a red-hot Latin groove, hip-hop and Top 40 favorites or a venue that’s unafraid to play a throwback or two, the Queen City has plenty to offer when it comes to nightlife.

These 10 Charlotte nightclubs might be for you if you’re looking forward to hitting the town and dancing the night away this weekend.

Argon

Location: 4544 South Blvd H, Charlotte, NC 28209

Neighborhood: Collingwood

Details: Argon is a gay nightclub with an energetic vibe and $3 mimosas every Sunday — it doesn’t get much better than that. The club regularly hosts karaoke nights and themed events, so be sure to take a peek at its calendar for more details.

Bazal

Location: 950 North Carolina Music Factory Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28206

Neighborhood: Greenville, North Carolina Music Factory

Details: Bazal Gallery and Nightclub features an art gallery on its top floor and a lively nightclub on its lower level. The “elevated” dress code is strictly enforced, and this is a members only club (an annual $25 fee is collected upon arrival).

Brooklyn

Location: 225 N Caldwell St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Details: This colorful club often hosts karaoke nights on Tuesdays and Latin nights on Saturdays and sporadically throughout the week. There’s no outlined dress code for Brooklyn, but the club is branded as an “exclusive club,” so it would be wise to dress accordingly.

Location: 300 N College St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Details: Hive is the perfect nightlife venue for EDM heads and festival-goers. This 21-and-older club prides itself on its “electric vibes” and “good energy.” There are no posted wardrobe requirements, but some events are themed and ask that guests abide by a certain dress code.

The Music Yard at SouthBound

Location: 2433 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203

Neighborhood: Dilworth

Details: The Music Yard is a top-rated, outdoor venue that features a dynamic ambiance for EDM and house fans. Most of its featured events are themed and/or ticketed, allowing guests to know exactly what to forward to.

Oak Room

Location: 200 E Bland St, Charlotte, NC 28203

Neighborhood: South End

Details: According to its site, Oak Room is a “private club” that enforces a strict dress code. Hiking boots, work boots, athletic gear, shorts, tank tops, excessively baggy clothes, baseball caps, and tees are included on the list of prohibited wardrobe items. This atmospheric dance club plays hip-hop and Top 40, and also offers Latin Nights every Friday.

Prohibition

Details: Prohibition is a classy speakeasy by day and a lively club by night. The dress code is casual, and the club regularly hosts cover-free events on the weekends. However, guests are still encouraged to check Prohibition’s socials to keep an eye out for ticketed sets.

QC Social Lounge

Location: Alley Entrance, 300 N College St #105, Charlotte, NC 28202

Details: Classy, dark, and exciting, QC Social Lounge is everything you’d expect a good nightclub to look and feel like. This venue has multiple bars, a roomy dance floor, and VIP sections. Every Thursday night, QC Social Lounge presents Open.House, a weekly series that features a curated set of up-and-coming local and international DJs.

Resident Culture - South End

Location: 332 W Bland St Suite C, Charlotte, NC 28203

Neighborhood: South End

Details: One of the more popular venues in South End on any given weekend night is Resident Culture. The dress code is relaxed, there is no membership fee, and the music is a variety mix of pop favorites and remixed Top 40. Resident Culture South End is open nightly until 10 p.m., except for on Fridays and Saturdays, when it stays open until 2 a.m.

Roxbury

Location: 116 W 5th St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Details: Roxbury is the perfect place for party-goers who are convinced they were born in the wrong era. This ‘80s, ‘90s and Y2K themed bar blasts your favorite throwbacks until 2:30 a.m. every Friday and Saturday night. The dress code is relaxed, and cover charges — which fluctuate — are collected at the door.

The Scorpio

Location: 2301 Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC 28208

Neighborhood: Ashley Park

Details: This LGBTQIA+ venue offers a vibrant space for queer individuals and allies. The club features drag shows, a country bar, an outdoor patio and also offers college nights. Cover, age limits and themes fluctuate, but updates are distributed consistently through the venue’s social media.

Tequila House

Location: 116 W 5th St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

Details: Tequila House is one of Charlotte’s longest-standing Latin nightclubs and maintains a lively “Uptown” mood for Charlotteans looking to dance the night away. This club is for guests who are 21 years of age or older, and an “upscale casual” dress code is enforced. According to the venue staff, “athletic wear, running shoes, hats or overly ripped and/or baggy” clothes are prohibited, while any other form of casual wear is allowed.

World

Location: 900 North Carolina Music Factory Blvd b6, Charlotte, NC 28206

Neighborhood: Greenville, North Carolina Music Factory

Details: Located in the AvidXchange Music Factory complex, World Nightclub is less of a nightclub and more of a live music venue. International and local DJs and diverse artists regularly take the stage at World, where age requirements are often set to 18 or older, and the dress code is casual. Keep an eye on its social media for details on upcoming events.
