Things to do

Rally, LoSo’s pickleball entertainment complex, will open (just a little!) later than planned

Rally, Charlotte’s eagerly-awaited massive pickleball and entertainment complex, will open at the end of June or the beginning of July in Lower South End.

This summer, expect to enjoy its eight pickleball courts (four indoor, four outdoor), a full service restaurant, two signature cocktail bars, event spaces and plenty of lounge and spectator seating areas. The space was previously slated to open June 20.

Court reservations will open five days ahead of the opening date.

Rally will be open to everyone; however, optional memberships will provide pickleball players with special benefits.

It will be located in two buildings, anchored by food and drink spaces in over 27,000 square feet of space.

Want to do more than visit? The company is also hiring for multiple positions.

WHAT ARE THE RULES OF PICKLEBALL? Here’s how to play and what you need.

This will be the first location for Rally Entertainment’s Barrett Worthington and Megan Charity.

“What’s so incredible about this game is that literally anyone can step onto a court and have a fun, competitive game their first time out,” Charity said in December, when the complex was announced. “But we’re designing Rally to be about so much more than pickleball. We’ve got a top-notch culinary program that will be a draw in and of itself.”

More than just pickleball

A full-service restaurant will include a global street food-inspired menu. “Charlotte is such a vibrant city that embraces active living and has a thriving experiential entertainment scene,” Worthington said. “We knew it would be the perfect place to launch the Rally brand and can’t wait to open in such a buzzworthy neighborhood as LoSo.”

Rally recently announced Cory Chunn as its executive chef — Chunn has overseen the kitchen at Michael Jordan’s Steak House and most recently served as executive chef for La Belle Helene, a Charlotte favorite. Menu development is underway, but expect small plates, shareables and Neapolitan pizza.

The complex is excited to have breweries as neighbors and is working on its beer list. Rally is also working with neighbor and Charlotte-based roastery Nightswim Coffee to create a custom blend for its on-site cafe.

Pickleball for everyone

While Charity is a world-ranked pickleball professional who competes on the pickleball pro circuit, Rally will offer pickleball for all skill levels. In addition to standard pickleball matches, Director of pickleball Jim Kucera will oversee programming from lessons to Cardio Pickleball to social leagues. The program will include tournaments for all levels — so don’t worry if you’ve never played pickleball.

Rally is partnering with JOOLA, who will be its official paddle partner.
