Pickleball in Charlotte

From the best places to play in the area to learning the basics, here’s some pickleball stories you’re going to relish.

A massive pickleball and entertainment complex will open early next year in Charlotte’s Lower South End, with eight pickleball courts (four indoor, four outdoor), a full service restaurant, two signature cocktail bars, event spaces and plenty of lounge and spectator seating areas.

Rally will be located in two buildings, anchored by food and drink spaces in over 27,000 square feet of space.

This will be the first location for Rally Entertainment’s Barrett Worthington and Megan Charity. “What’s so incredible about this game is that literally anyone can step onto a court and have a fun, competitive game their first time out,” Charity said in a statement. “But we’re designing Rally to be about so much more than pickleball. We’ve got a top-notch culinary program that will be a draw in and of itself.”

A full-service restaurant will include a global street food-inspired menu. “Charlotte is such a vibrant city that embraces active living and has a thriving experiential entertainment scene,” Worthington said. “We knew it would be the perfect place to launch the Rally brand and can’t wait to open in such a buzzworthy neighborhood as LoSo.”

Charity, world-ranked pickleball professional who competes on the pickleball pro circuit, will lead Rally’s pickleball program. The program will include tournaments for all levels — so don’t worry if you’ve never played pickleball. Charity will also helm Rally’s social leagues and other events.

Rally will be located at the corner of Old Pineville Road and Southside Drive. The architect is Redline Design Group, with landscape design by DPR and project management by Strata Project Management Group.
