‘It’s going to be a FULL HOUSE!!!!’ Garth Brooks thanks Charlotte for stadium sellout
Tickets to country music star Garth Brooks’ May 2 concert at Bank of America Stadium sold out in 90 minutes Friday morning — all 74,000 of them, show organizers and the country music megastar announced.
“Charlotte, I just heard you SOLD OUT Bank of America Stadium and it’s going to be a FULL HOUSE!!!!” Brooks tweeted at 11:55 a.m. “Thank YOU for making me even more excited for 2020!!!! love, g #GARTHinCHARLOTTE.
The sell-out equals 822 tickets per minute, for what amounts to the largest paid crowd in the history of uptown Charlotte’s largest venue.
The 57-year-old Brooks last performed in Charlotte in March 1998, when he sold out two shows on back-to-back nights at the old Charlotte Coliseum, The Charlotte Observer previously reported. At least 48,000 fans attended those shows.
The Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Stadium announced their intention this fall to bring more concerts to uptown Charlotte’s largest venue, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.
In September, the Panthers and Live Nation said that Billy Joel will perform at the stadium on Saturday, April 18, 2020 — the first concert there in nearly eight years.
On Wednesday, producer Live Nation announced a July 11 concert at the stadium with four iconic rock bands — Motley Crue and Def Leppard, with Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
