Are Charlotte ABC stores open on Christmas? Here’s when to buy holiday booze

North Carolina controls liquor sales more than most states, driving up prices. There’s a better way.

‘Tis the season for festive feasts and decorative drinks, but if you’re planning to buy any holiday booze for your Christmas gathering, you’ll need to plan ahead.

By North Carolina law, Christmas is one of the few holidays, along with Sundays, that no ABC store in the state shall be open.

According to the county board website, all liquor store locations in the area will be open a little bit longer if you want to go before or after the holiday.

Through Tuesday, Dec. 31, Mecklenburg County ABC stores will be open 10 a.m-9 p.m. except on Christmas Day, when all stores will be closed.

You can find a list and map of locations online at meckabc.com.
