Airline expands at CLT with special Charlotte Mardi Gras flight to New Orleans

Frontier Airlines is adding special flights from the Queen City to the Big Easy next year for Mardi Gras festivities, the low-cost carrier announced Tuesday.

Nonstop service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will be offered from Feb. 12 to Feb. 22, 2026. Those flights from CLT to MSY will run three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The service schedule is subject to change.

For Mardi Gras, airline is adding temporary service to New Orleans from airports in other large markets as well, such as Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix and New York.

Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday,” in French, marks the end of the Carnival season — a time of celebration leading up to the start of Lent in the Christian calendar.

The best-known festivities happen in New Orleans, where colorful parades, extravagant costumes and traditional throws like beads take over the city. The celebration bring crowds from around the world each year and holds deep cultural importance for New Orleans.

Ticket prices range from $210 to more than $460 for a roundtrip ticket, according to the company’s website. Additional details are available at flyfrontier.com.

Frontier Airlines expanding in Charlotte

The temporary route to New Orleans is one of several announced by the airline this year for Charlotte Douglas.

In February, Frontier announced direct travel to Tampa from Charlotte with service starting in May. Frontier continued its expansion at CLT with nonstop flights to Boston, Miami and Cincinnati in the summer.

Last year, Frontier added flights to several U.S. and Caribbean destinations including New York/LaGuardia; Houston-Bush; Dallas-Fort Worth; Chicago O’Hare; Baltimore-Washington; Buffalo, New York; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Denver-based airline came to CLT in 2014.
