For fans of the popular under-the-sea fairy tale, the cocktail bar they’ve been looking for is popping up this spring in Charlotte.

The Little Mermaid Cocktail Experience, a 90-minute immersive experience based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale (and not the Disney movie) will open March 24 at a “secret location,” the global entertainment company Fever said in a news release Thursday. Ticket sales began Thursday.

It’s one of the latest cocktail-based pop-up events held recently in Charlotte, including holiday themes.

The Little Mermaid pop-up bar showcases three themed drinks with a theatrical performance, according to Fever, based in New York. It’s already launched in other cities, including Miami, Chicago and London.

Charlotte is the only destination in the Carolinas for the event.

What to expect at the popup bar

The “Little Mermaid” popup for adults only ages 21 and old will offer a drink menu themed around scenes from the fairy tale, and a cast of actors and performers who bring the story to life, according to Fever.

The three cocktails called The Enemy’s Anemone, Wicked Undertow and A Pearl of the Sea are vodka, gin or rum based, respectively. Non-alcohol versions also are available.

The cocktail experience will be held at select times Thursdays through Sundays through April 10, according to the website. Guests are encouraged to dress up.

Tickets are on sale and start at $59, including three cocktails.

The experience is not affiliated with or endorsed by Disney, Fever said.

The event is by the same group that brought Candlelight, an intimate musical event with a string quartet playing by candlelight, at venues like Belk Chapel, The Big Chill and The Barrel Room.

Other events by Fever coming to Charlotte include The Art of Banksy: Without Limit opening next month and The Boozy Cauldron, a pop-up cocktail experience with a wizard theme March 10-13, according to the company website.
