Belk after Bankruptcy


It’s been a year since Charlotte’s most iconic company Belk left bankruptcy.

As businesses struggled during the pandemic with shutdowns and restrictions, labor shortages, supply chain issues and peoples comfort levels being out in public indoor spaces, many shoppers turned to online and other contactless purchasing options.

And department stores, like Charlotte’s 134-year-old Belk, have been challenged by shifting consumer tastes and competing against ubiquitous discount companies.

So, the Observer wants to know: Do you shop at Belk? Why or why not? What’s your favorite department or apparel and accessories store? Do you shop in store or online most? Let us know in the survey below.
