Pipe work on a busy Charlotte road could create traffic hassle. Here’s the latest.

A stretch of a major road in south Charlotte will be down to one lane for three months beginning Tuesday as the city replaces water pipes and failing wastewater lines.

Tyvola Road will be down to one eastbound lane between Interstate 77 and Old Pineville Road until April, Charlotte Water said Monday.

Westpark Drive, which leads into a shopping center, will be closed at Tyvola, the utility said.

Traffic will be detoured onto Old Pineville Road and Griffith Road.

Drivers will be allowed to make right turns only onto Tyvola Road from the McDonalds/Circle K in the 400 block of Tyvola Road, 77 Center Drive and southbound Interstate 77 during most of the work, Charlotte Water said.
