Charlotte releases cause of fire near Latta Arcade in uptown

An indoor fire near The Alley at Latta Arcade that caused $5,000 in damages on Tuesday night was due to an overloaded electrical device, a Charlotte Fire Department spokesperson said.

The fire occurred at 145 Brevard Court, said John Lipcsak, battalion chief in the department’s public information office, in an email to The Charlotte Observer. No one was injured.

The fire department posted about the fire at 10:01 p.m. on Tuesday on social media, saying 30 firefighters quickly got it under control.

Latta Arcade is a mixed indoor and outdoor space that includes restaurants in uptown Charlotte.
