Man fatally shot on Christmas Eve on North Tryon Street

A man was fatally shot in the 1500 block of North Tryon Street on Christmas Eve following an “altercation” at a local business, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

George Agee Jr., 63, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, CMPD said.

He was brought to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead — marking Charlotte’s 108th homicide this year. The city’s staggering homicide rate surpassed 100 on Nov. 26, after 19-year-old Nathaniel Lee Isenhour was fatally shot on University City Boulevard, near UNC Charlotte.

A wave of violence surrounding the holiday season continued Monday night, when a man who’d been shot “multiple times” was found dead in his north Charlotte home near the Sunset Hills Public Golf Course.

CMPD said Tuesday’s shooting occurred when the victim and an employee at a North Tryon Street store got into an altercation. Officers arrived at the scene around 9 p.m., CMPD said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS and or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
