Since 2021, at least 73 children and teens in Charlotte have been shot, 33 lives cut short. But numbers are only the start of the story.

Charlotte tallies about 100 homicides each year, with its recent peak happening in 2020 when 121 people were killed. The death toll dipped to 98 in 2021 before increasing to 110 last year.
Most victims are killed by gunfire. And police solve most of the cases. See the table below for who was killed, the circumstances surrounding the homicide and if police solved the case. The data comes from the city of Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
