The third annual Mega Mommy March was held In January 2023 at Marshall Park.

Dozens of parents marched in remembrance of the children they had lost to gun violence. In 2017, Sevhn Robinson’s son, Kyyri, was shot to death inside his car which led Robinson to create a group for grieving mothers.

The number of grieving parents continues to grow as shootings involving minors rise.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department doesn’t keep a publicly available tally of local children and teens struck by gunfire. So The Charlotte Observer assembled one, making the most accurate count we could.

What did we find? At least 73 local kids and teens have been shot since 2021. At least 33 died. Babies were among the youngest struck by bullets.
