One killed, 2 wounded by gunfire at site hosting event in Charlotte, NC police say
One person was killed and two others were seriously hurt when shots were fired at an event in southeast Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The person who died has been identified as Chauncory Farmer, 19, CMPD said in an update.
A motive in the shootings has not been released.
It happened around 1:20 a.m Sunday, Sept. 15, in the 1600 block of Hollow Drive, CMPD said in a news release. The residential neighborhood is off Monroe Road, about half a mile northwest of Greenway Park Elementary School.
“The location is (a site) that was rented out for an event. Upon arrival, officers located three victims with apparent gunshot wounds,” CMPD said.
“MEDIC transported all three victims to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. One victim was pronounced deceased by medical staff shortly after arriving to the hospital.”
CMPD initially reported the site as an Airbnb rental, but an Airbnb representative told the Charlotte Observer “this did not happen during an Airbnb reservation and was in no way associated with Airbnb.”
Identities of the other two gunshot victims have not been released. Investigators have not said who was hosting the event.
