Shooting of two in NoDa came during robbery attempt, police report says

Two men were shot in an attempted robbery early Saturday outside in the 500 block of Mercury Street in NoDa, according to a police report.

An unknown person pulled out a handgun on two men, both age 30, and a woman, 30, and demanded items from them. When the group refused, the robber shot the two men, who were hospitalized, according to the police report. The scene is near the intersection with Davidson Avenue.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers arrived on the scene at 1:21 a.m. The two men suffered serious injuries, according to the police report.
