Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Tuesday identified a 44-year-old man killed in a crash involving a dump truck New Year’s Eve morning.

Michael Ellis Presnell was transported to the hospital after colliding with a Peterbilt dump truck at 11:23 a.m. Dec. 31 in the 7700 block of Wilkinson Boulevard. He died at the hospital from his injuries, CMPD said.

CMPD said Presnell made an improper turn that led to the crash. A minor was in the vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and taken to the hospital.

Toxicology results are pending for Presnell. CMPD said the dump truck’s driver was screened and was not impaired.
