Charlotte man accused of stabbing 33-year-old to death arrested in Virginia
A 30-year-old man accused of stabbing a 33-year-old man to death in December was extradited to Charlotte from Virginia on Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Diamonte Galloway, 30, was charged with murder in the stabbing death of David Damelle Alexander, 33, at 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 in the 2400 block of Booker Avenue.
Police said a witness told investigators that Galloway and Alexander were outside in an argument when it got physical, according to an arrest affidavit. The witness separated Galloway and Alexander and walked back inside the home, the affidavit said.
Alexander walked in shortly after, holding the left side of his stomach and accused Galloway of stabbing him, saying, “Monte stabbed me,” the affidavit said. Alexander collapsed, and family members called 911. When people went outside, Galloway and his vehicle were gone, the affidavit said.
Alexander died after being transported to a hospital.
CMPD said in a press release Wednesday that Galloway was arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia, by local police on Dec. 29. He is being held on no bond at Mecklenburg County Jail.
