A grand jury has found probable cause that former Sycamore Brewing co-owner Justin Brigham raped a 13-year-old 40 miles outside of Charlotte.

Brigham, 44, was charged in December with nine felonies, including statutory rape, first-degree burglary, and assault causing bodily injury. A Stanly County grand jury of at least 12 people indicted him — or found that there was enough evidence to support prosecutors’ decision to charge him — on all nine counts this week, court records show.

The March 2 indictments allege that Brigham used Snapchat and text messages to talk to his victim, at one point receiving a photo of the girl’s genitalia. He then broke into a Stanfield home east of Charlotte to commit “a lewd and lascivious act” on the girl while at least two others were home.

Brigham is also charged with assaulting a man by grabbing and twisting his genitals.

A court date has not been set.

Missy Owen, Brigham’s defense attorney, previously told The Charlotte Observer his case will be in discovery for several months before Brigham appears in court.

Brigham co-founded Sycamore Brewing his wife, who has taken control of the popular Charlotte business and filed for divorce.
