Early morning homicide reported among popular gathering places in NoDa, CMPD says
A woman was fatally shot in the 3200 block of North Davidson Street, which is a popular gathering place in the NoDa community.
She has been identified as 38-year-old Taylor Sylver, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in an update.
Police got a 911 call around 2:10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, about the shooting. The woman shot was taken to a hospital, but died, said police Capt. Lucas Veith.
A disturbance happened before the shooting, which took place outside on the street, he said. Police taped off the area and continued investigating at the scene Thursday.
Adaysia Yahel Coles, 26, has been identified as a suspect in the shooting, CMPD said. Cole was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, and was being extradited back to Charlotte on a murder charge, officials said.
