Early morning homicide reported among popular gathering places in NoDa, CMPD says

A woman was fatally shot in the 3200 block of North Davidson Street, which is a popular gathering place in the NoDa community.

Police got a 911 call around 2:10 a.m. Thursday about the shooting. The woman shot was taken to a hospital, but died, said police Capt. Lucas Veith.

A disturbance happened before the shooting, which took place outside on the street, he said. Police taped off the area and continued investigating at the scene Thursday.

Veith said police are searching for the shooter. The name of the woman killed had not yet been released.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the CMPD Homicide Unit at 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak directly to at detective. Anonymous tips can be offered through Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
