Busy Lake Norman road to close for $249 million highway expansion
A contractor will close part of busy Talbert Road in Mooresville several overnights this week as part of the $249 million widening of N.C. 150 in the Lake Norman area.
Crews will close Talbert just north of N.C. 150 at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to install storm drainage across the road, according to a news release Tuesday by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Talbert Road will reopen by 6 a.m. each day, highway officials said.
Follow signed detours around the closure using N.C. 150, Corporate Center Drive and Oates Road, according to NCDOT.
Work began in 2025 to expand the highway
N.C. 150 is being widened from U.S. 21/N.C. 150 in Mooresville to N.C. 16 in Catawba County, including a new, 10-lane interchange at Interstate 77 exit 36.
“Construction began last year, with crews upgrading storm drainage, coordinating utility installation, relocating traffic signals and installing walls to separate the work zone from traffic,” according to the news release.
