A routine Uber ride turned dangerous when the passenger became “irate” and started shooting, according to police in North Carolina.

The driver was not hit, but multiple bullets struck his car, the Spring Lake Police Department said in a Dec. 1 news release.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, on Calvin Street in Spring Lake, about a 70-mile drive southwest from downtown Raleigh.

“The investigation revealed that an incident had occurred inside an Uber, and the driver of the Uber requested that the individual exit,” police said.

“At this time, the male became irate and after exiting the vehicle, he discharged a firearm striking the vehicle multiple times.”

Court records report it happened in a residential neighborhood, and the Toyota Corolla was driving away when Ladavien Josiah Wilson, of Fayetteville, started firing his 9 mm Glock 19 Gen 5 handgun.

Wilson, 26, has been arrested and charged with discharging a weapon into occupied/moving vehicle, assault with deadly weapon, and injury to personal property, police said.
