Six of the top seven teams in the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll are all still alive in the playoffs with two weeks left to play.

The lone team not still practicing is N.C. Independent Schools state champion Charlotte Christian.

So, the Sweet 16 champion will, as they say, be decided on the field.

No. 1 Rock Hill South Pointe will play Hartsville for a state championship Saturday in Columbia. The Stallions hunt their fourth straight title.

This week No. 6 Hough is at No. 2 Mallard Creek. No. 7 Vance is at No. 5 Harding, and No. 4 Charlotte Catholic hosts No. 13 Concord Robinson.

Those are all N.C. semifinals.
