Cabarrus County wrestler is Charlotte Observer athlete of the week.

Cannon School wrestler Charlie Carr is the Charlotte Observer high school athlete of the week.

Carr finished ahead of East Rutherford’s Martina Mace and Marvin Ridge’s Sam Bartholomew.

Carr, a Cannon School freshman, won the 106-pound title at the Greeneville Invitational Jan. 18 in Tennessee.

Carr impressed against a field that included more 20 of Tennessee’s best A and AA wrestling teams, winning in the finals by pin to complete a 12-0 victory.

Carr is 22-4 this season.
