3A: West Charlotte rallies past 71st
West Charlotte traveled to the Raleigh on Saturday with the second-most losses of any team playing for a state high school basketball championship.
But Lions’ head coach Jacoby Davis says that is what makes his team so tough.
“The schedule is what toughened us,” Davis says. “It’s a big part of who we are.”
That toughness showed as West Charlotte beat Seventy-First 83-75, rallying with a supreme defensive performance.
The Lions forced 19 turnovers and rallied from a 39-33 halftime deficit, eventually leading by as many as 14.
