The Wolves’ freshman won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and 8-5 at No. 1 doubles with teammate, Eva Tiwari in a 5-4 loss to Charlotte Country Day on Aug. 25.

The next day, Castellanos Trujillo won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 8-3 at No. 1 doubles with Tiwari to lead Ballantyne Ridge to an 8-1 victory over Covenant Day.

Castellanos Trujillo finished off the week with another 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, and an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles with Tiwari, leading the Wolves to a 7-2 win at East Mecklenburg and Aug. 28.

Castellanos Trujillo is 4-1 in singles play and 5-0 in doubles overall this season.

Olivia Easton, South Point volleyball: The Red Raiders’ sophomore had 58 kills in three matches last week as South Point won 3-0 over Ashbrook on Aug. 28 and lost at East Gaston on Aug. 27 and Highland Tech on Aug. 25.

Paisley Freda, Pine Lake Prep golf: The Pride junior shot a 1-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors in Catawba Shores’ 2A/3A/4A conference match at Verdict Ridge Golf Club on Aug. 25

Freda’s efforts also helped the Pine Lake Prep girls’ team to victory in the same match with a team score of 124.

Freda also won medalist honors in her first conference match of the season, shooting a 2-under-par 34 at the Tradition Golf Club on Aug. 18.

Caitlyn Frisch, Lake Norman Charter golf: The Knights’ junior shot a 2-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors in a quad match at Warrior Golf Club in China Grove on Aug. 27.

Frisch’s play also helped the Lake Norman Charter girls’ team to a victory over East Rowan, Lake Norman and South Rowan in the same match.

Avery Gordish, Hough golf: The Huskies’ sophomore shot a 1-under-par 35, with three birdies, to earn medalist honors in a Greater Charlotte 7A/8A conference match at Myers Park Country Club on Aug. 27.

Gordish’s play also helped the Hough girls’ golf team to a first-place finish, shooting a team score of 117 at the same match.

Melony Hoffman, West Lincoln golf: The Rebels’ senior shot a 1-under-par 33, to earn medalist honors at Forest City Municipal golf course on Aug. 26.

Hoffman’s play helped the West Lincoln girls’ team (2-0) to victory over East Rutherford and Polk County in the same match.

Hoffman averages a score of 37 per nine holes this season.

Teagan Reilly, Myers Park tennis: The Mustangs’ senior won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 8-1 at No. 1 doubles (with teammate Lila Cheatwood) to help Myers Park to a 9-0 win over Providence on Aug. 26.

Reilly is 4-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play for Myers Park (5-0) this season.

Georgia Senhauser, Providence Day volleyball: The Chargers’ junior had five digs, two assists, two aces and two kills in a 3-1 win over Cannon School on Aug. 26.

Senhauser also had six digs, three aces and one assist in a 3-0 victory over Ambassador Christian on Aug. 28.

Senhauser’s defensive hustle has been game-changing this season, said Providence Day coach Tricia Foster. For the season, Senhauser has 26 digs, six kills, eight aces and four assists for the Chargers (4-4).

Savannah Ryan, Providence Day field hockey: The Chargers’ sophomore goalkeeper had 15 saves, allowing only one goal in regulation, as Providence Day outlasted Cary Christian, 2-1, on the road through two overtimes and a shootout.

Ryan also had two saves in the shootout.

Providence Day is 2-2-1 overall this season.

Jordin Smith, Lake Norman volleyball: The Wildcats’ junior libero was all over the court with 24 digs, one ace and two assists in a 3-2 win over South Rowan on Aug. 25.

Smith also had 21 digs, three assists and one ace in 3-0 loss at Ronald Reagan on Aug. 27.

Smith has 115 digs, seven assists and six aces for Lake Norman (1-5) this season.

Gracie Song, Cuthbertson golf: The Cavaliers’ senior shot a 3-under-par 33, with three birdies in a four-hole stretch, to earn medalist honors while leading Cuthbertson to a fifth-place team finish in a Southern Carolinas Conference (SCC) match at Harry Jones Golf Club in Charlotte on Aug. 25.

Song also shot an even-par 36, with back-to-back birdies on par fives, as Cuthbertson lost to Providence and Raintree Country Club on Aug. 27.

McKenzie Swadley, North Lincoln volleyball: The Knights’ junior middle hitter had 12 kills, one block and one ace in 3-0 win at Newton Conover on Aug. 26.

The next day, Swadley had nine kills, two blocks and one dig in a 3-1 loss at North Iredell.

Swadley finished off the week with seven kills, two aces, four blocks and three digs in a 3-0 win over Bandys on Aug. 28.

Swadley has 50 kills, 25 blocks, eight aces and eight digs for North Lincoln (7-2) this season.
