Carolina Panthers sign CFL punter/kicker Swayze Waters

The Carolina Panthers have signed CFL punter/kicker Swayze Waters to a one-year contract, the team announced.

Waters, who played at UAB, gives the Panthers someone to compete with kicker Graham Gano and punter Brad Nortman, who is set to become a free agent in March.

Waters was the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2014 after averaging 47.7 yards per punt and connecting on 47-of-52 field goals. He missed most of last season with a hip injury.
