North Charlotte homicide suspect turns self in at sheriff’s office

A suspect in Sunday’s killing of 34-year-old Lucas Lorenzo Baldwin in north Charlotte turned himself in Wednesday at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Baldwin died at the Tanglewood Apartments in the 4500 block of Wynbrook Way, police said. He was the city’s 37th homicide victim this year.

Police charged 42-year-old William Vandale Medlin with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Baldwin and Medlin knew each other, police said.

Police have not said what they believe led to the killing.
