A new Mexican restaurant is headed to Ally Charlotte Center in uptown this week
Dos Caminos, a New York-based Mexican restaurant, will open its first North Carolina location on the ground floor of Ally Charlotte Center on Tuesday, March 19.
Dos Caminos’ seventh location — and first location outside of Manhattan and Atlantic City — will be located next to a Starbucks and Salata, across from Golden Cow Creamery.
Dos Caminos, originally owned by New York-based BR Guest Hospitality, was acquired by Landry’s Inc. in 2016. Landry’s is also behind a few other spots in Charlotte, including both McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse and The Palm.
Dos Caminos’ menu includes both upscale Mexican cuisine and street food items like nachos and ceviche; tacos on handmade tortillas including birria, carne asada and carnitas; and traditional dishes like enchiladas, quesadillas and short ribs.
Lunch guests can choose from options such as a skillet burrito, pollo ranchero, Ixtapa burger and lunch-sized salads. Happy hour offerings will be available, too.
On its drink menu you’ll find a new specialty margarita, dubbed the “Queen City” Margarita, that will be exclusive to the Charlotte location. Another option its Great Escape, winner of the 2022 Margarita Rumble, has Teremana Reposado Tequila, hibiscus-ginger syrup and fresh lime juice. Or, you can go with one of its cocktails with fruits like the Pineapple Smoke, made with Casamigos Mezcal, Casamigos Reposado Tequila, bitters, pineapple juice, agave nectar and fresh lemon juice.
If you’re looking to explore Ally Charlotte Center, other options include a mesmerizing night at the Museum of Illusions, slow-cooked ramen from JINYA or grilled salmon from Brown Bag Seafood Co.
