This long-awaited Charlotte burger restaurant is now open in Matthews
Moo & Brew’s downtown Matthews location — which has been in the works for the former Moe’s BBQ space for quite some time — opened Monday, Jan. 29.
“We’re planning to bring some of our Plaza Midwood edge to Downtown Matthews,” co-owner Ryan Grant said via news release.
Co-owner Zach Current added: “We are excited to bring the fan favorites, the laid-back atmosphere, and our ‘all are welcome’ attitude to Matthews.”
Here’s what to expect:
More space: After renovations to the building, diners can expect a similar experience from the Charlotte staple’s Plaza Midwood restaurant but in a larger space with an expansive outdoor setup. The 3,700-square-foot restaurant will hold 70 guests indoors and 60 more on the patio, plus a back porch beer garden that will hold 100 additional people.
Similar food: The new location’s menu will mirror that of the flagship store with burger favorites such as The Farmer’s Daughter, topped with farm egg, bacon, cheddar and M&B sauce; and The Hot Chick, a fried Buffalo chicken sandwich with pepperjack cheese and bacon. The signature Large Marge Bloody Mary will stick around, too.
What’s new? Kid-friendly items will make their way onto the Matthews menu.
The beer: In Matthews, Moo & Brew will have 32 beers on tap — just a bit short of the Plaza Midwood location ‘s 40+ beers.
UNC fan spot: Like the Plaza Midwood location, Carolina fans will be welcomed on game days with the restaurant’s signature 32-ounce souvenir Carolina Cup specials.
“The idea to expand to a second location is something that we have wanted to do for a while, we just needed to find the right space, and we’re confident we’ve found it here,” co-owner Ken Thomas said in the release. “We look forward to becoming a fixture of the vibrant Downtown Matthews community.”
