A new pub for Charlotte sports fans is open in uptown — and it feels familiar
An old friend is back in Charlotte: The Pub At Uptown, a new take on The Pub At Gateway, opened its doors on Saturday, May 17.
“We’ve been counting down the days, and it feels incredible to say finally — The Pub At Uptown is ready to welcome everyone,” owner Eddie Romero said in a news release.
“This has been a true labor of love, and we can’t wait for Charlotte to experience the next chapter of what made The Pub At Gateway so special, now with an Uptown twist.”
The Pub At Gateway was a joint venture between Romero and Mike Ivie, who owned the restaurant in a nearby space on Trade Street for 17 years. Now, they’re looking to bring back the same kind of welcoming vibes at The Pub at Uptown — just with an upgrade.
On the menu, diners will find new flavors and familiar favorites from The Pub at Gateway including gouda mac ‘n cheese bites, house-made hummus and Angus burgers. Also look for salads, wraps and sandwiches, and other game-day friendly foods including nachos. The kitchen will stay open until the 2,700-square-foot pub closes at 2 a.m.
Bourbon lovers will want to check out the pub’s selection of high-end options, and premium cocktails will be on the menu, too. Daily drink specials will include a $5 rotating local draft on Thursdays and $8 mimosas and bloody Marys on Sundays.
With close proximity to Truist Field and Bank of America Stadium, The Pub at Uptown is looking to be a haven for sports fans, with 14 TVs, a dartboard and the original jukebox from the previous restaurant. It’s also partnering with Penya Blaugrana Charlotte to be the official home pub for every Barcelona game.
Free parking will be available — except on gamedays — on the ground-level parking deck nearby with an entrance on Graham Street. Carryout will be available via online ordering.
