This new South Charlotte restaurant brings hibachi flavors on the go
A new option for quick but hearty hibachi meals is now available in South Charlotte.
Fast-casual spot Tokyo Kitchen opened in early May in the Steele Creek Commons shopping center that holds Food Lion, near Buddha’s Bazaar and Joe Momma’s Pizza & Grille.
The restaurant is set up primarily for takeout, although there are a few seats for those who want a place to stop in for a quick bite inside. That means no onion volcano and no shrimp flipping onto your plate as the chef cooks, as you’d likely find at a sit-down hibachi restaurant.
The tradeoffs? You get to chow down a whole lot faster, it’s cheaper and you can take it right home.
“At Tokyo Kitchen, we specialize in hearty hibachi meals crafted for today’s fast-paced lifestyle — perfect for busy families and individuals alike,” owner Thai Truong told CharlotteFive.
“Our chefs use traditional techniques over a sizzling 450-degree teppan grill to create bold, satisfying flavors for every palate.”
On the menu, you’ll find appetizers such as miso soup, edamame and the deep-fried Japanese egg roll, which comes with a drizzle of eel sauce and sesame seeds on top.
Hibachi entrees give you a selection to choose from that includes vegetables, chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon, with a cost of $10.95-$13.95. There’s also an option for you to get a combo platter with two proteins. (It’s the most expensive thing on the menu at $15.95.)
Each meal comes with egg fried rice, steamed rice or garlic noodles and is served with mixed vegetables and sweet carrots. Sides of protein and veggies are also available.
Truong said, “Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch or picking up dinner for the family, Tokyo Kitchen delivers authentic hibachi steakhouse flavors at express prices.”
