Beloved wine bar debuts new name, concept in NoDa. ‘We’ll see you soon.’

A familiar wine bar and market is starting a new chapter in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood.

NoDa Company Store is now Relic NoDa, an intimate neighborhood hangout designed to be “a bridge between the past and present,” according to its website.

It combines two concepts under one roof: Relic, an indoor space to vibe and unwind while sipping on wine, local beer, and house-made sangrias, alongside Riot, an outdoor patio that leans into relaxed vibes by day and shifts into a more festive atmosphere after dark. Think: movie nights and vintage vinyl dance parties.

Bar snacks, aperitivo bites and locally-sourced goods will be available, too.

“While the name has changed, the heart of this historic gathering place remains the same,” owner Jesse Fell wrote on Instagram. “We are honored to continue the story of this building and the community that has always given it life.”

CharlotteFive reached out to Fell for more information on the bar’s rebrand Wednesday, July 1, and was awaiting a response.

The original “company store” concept took shape inside a restored mill house, paying homage to the mercantile shops that served mill and mining families in what’s now Charlotte’s historic arts district, Relic’s website says.

The NoDa Company Store patio has long been a popular gathering spot for locals and was once voted among the best in the city, CharlotteFive reported. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the bar temporarily converted to a market, selling fresh produce, pasta, rice, spices and more.

“Not only does it work perfectly for what we do, we can keep our two employees working,” then-owner Joey Hewell told CharlotteFive at the time. “And when people are really quarantined, this is how we can give back to the neighborhood.”

Locals can expect the same community vibes at Relic NoDa as it hosts special events like curated wine dinners, tea blending workshops and (if you’re into fresh flowers) bouquet building classes.

“Cheers to good times, great company and a beautiful community,” the bar’s website says. “We’ll see you soon.”

This is a developing story and will be updated.
