You may be down a plus one on Valentine’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate.

From drag shows to terrarium building, art exhibits to queer mixers, there are no shortage of ways to feel the self love in Charlotte. You don’t need a date — just grab your bestie (even if it’s your dog).

We’ve gathered a list of events around the Queen City for singles to get out and mingle.

Dog Days of Winter

Location: U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214

Details: Celebrate the holiday of love with the most loyal love of all — your four-legged best friend. The U.S. National Whitewater Center is hosting a day full of activities, including a 5K trail race, adoption events, ice skating, doggy vendors and more.

Galentine’s Masquerade & Tea

Location: Tax n Tea Lounge, 9620 University City Blvd Suite A, Charlotte, NC 28213

Details: Grab your masquerade mask (required) and a gal pal and enjoy music, small bites, teas, hookah and giveaways. Ebony Wine & Spirits will be onsite for a complimentary wine tasting.

Galentine’s Day Shopping

Location: 7314 Waverly Walk Avenue, Suite E-6, Charlotte, NC 28277

Details: Fab’rik South Charlotte in Waverly is hosting a Galentine’s Day event with Lash Lounge Waverly and Glo by Emily. Get 20% of purchases, enjoy in-story brow threading and tinting, as well as spray tans all while sipping and snacking on some sweets.

Galentine’s Day Terrarium at PlantHouse CLT

Location: 2452 Park Rd Unit D, Charlotte, NC 28203

Grab your bestie and enjoy $2 glasses of wine while assembling an adorable terrarium — guaranteed to last longer than the last person you met on Tinder. Local business Homewurk will be onsite offering sweatshirt customization.

Goodyear Arts Black Lesbian Exhibit

Location: Goodyear Arts, 301 Camp Road, #200 Charlotte, NC 28206

Details: The artist-led nonprofit residency Goodyear Arts is featuring MÔR: A Collective Exhibition of Black Lesbian Thought. Work from artists including Sokari Ekine, Shan Wallace & Makeda Lewis, Tochi Hannah, Sofahood, Laila Stevens, Asia Stewart, Ibtisam Tasnim & Victoria Walton, and Special Guest Ika Hügel-Marshall are on display.

Date: Closes Feb. 11, hours 6-9 p.m.

Iron Axe Society

Location: Iron Axe Society, Gibson Mill 325 McGill Ave Suite #130, Concord, NC 28027 (Pinned videos on Facebook show exact location within Gibson Mill.)

Details: Mend your broken heart this Valentines Day by bringing a photo or memento from a certain someone to hang on one of Iron Axe Society’s targets — and take aim.

Date: Saturday, Feb. 12, 11 a.m.- 11 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 13, noon- 9 p.m. and Monday Feb. 14, 4-10 p.m.

Karen Affection’s Valentines Bop

Location: NoDa Brewing, 2921 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206

Details: You won’t have to drag your friends to see this entertaining showcase of drag entertainment featuring hostesses Karen Affection and Nova Stella, along with Kristi Darling, Onya Nerves and Lolita Chanel (whom you might remember from this fabulous Plaza Midwood performance).

Date: Feb. 11, 7-9 p.m.

Admission: $25 general admission for table of 4, $40 VIP for table of 4 that includes meet and greet, signed photo with the queens, NoDa koozie and glass and snack voucher. Tickets available online at nodabrewing.com/events/.

NoDaHood Valentine’s Market

Location: Divine Barrel Brewing, 3701 N. Davidson St., Suite 203, Charlotte

Details: Divine Barrel Brewing and neighboring businesses are hosting their first NoDaHood Market of 2022 just in time for the holiday of love. The market will feature more than 50 local artisans, food trucks and a DJ.

Queer Mixer at Twigs & Figs

Location: 15205 John J Delaney Drive #B, Charlotte, North Carolina 28277

Details: Twigs & Figs is inviting the Queer community and others across the gender and sexuality spectrum to celebrate the holiday of love with a Sweetarts & Rainbow Hearts Queer Mixer. Open to those 18 and older, colored wristbands will let others know if you are looking for love, friendship or both. The event will feature games, plant crafts, sweet treats and a drag performance.

Date: Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

Winey Grapes Charlotte Indoor Wine Festival

Location: Slate Charlotte, 200 East Bland Street, Charlotte, NC 28203

Details: Sample more than 80 wines while enjoying live music and shopping local vendors. All admission includes a commemorative tasting glass, unlimited samples of wine and a raffle drawing. VIP admission includes exclusive samplings, extra raffle drawings and light appetizers.
