Funeral arrangements are set for a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who died in a wreck involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 85 on Dec. 22. Officer Mia Goodwin, 33, was killed and three other officers were injured.

The funeral service for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who died in a wreck on Interstate 85 last week will start at noon Wednesday, and will be streamed online for those who can’t attend.
Officer Mia Goodwin, 33, was killed and three other officers were injured on Dec. 22 when two semi-trucks collided on I-85, hitting several CMPD vehicles.
Goodwin, a mother of three and the wife of a Charlotte firefighter, will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Davidson St., Charlotte, according to CMPD.
The services will be streamed live on CMPD’s Facebook page, police said. It also will be on CMPD YouTube, and the city of Charlotte’s Government Channel.
Loved ones, friends and colleagues will be able to pay their respects starting at 10 a.m., before the service begins. There will be no graveside service or processional after the service, police said.
There will also be various road closures from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., police said.
