On Mother’s Day, hundreds of protesters — some with signs saying “Charlotte is pro-choice” and “Abortion is healthcare” — gathered at Freedom Park to stage a rally for the right to access an abortion.
Elected officials and supporters took turns speaking to the crowd. The rally stemmed from national reaction — seen as a victory to many conservatives — after Politico published a leaked draft of a Supreme Court majority opinion that foretells an overturning of the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.
