CMPD with SWAT team surrounds east Charlotte apartment in standoff

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police with armored vehicles surrounded an apartment in east Charlotte Wednesday morning.

Police were aiming weapons at an apartment building on Fairmarket Place near The Plaza, according to WSOC images.

An armored SWAT vehicle and ambulance were seen leaving the scene by the afternoon.

Brian Gallagher, a spokesperson for CMPD, said the department had no comment.
